Intelcan will deploy a unique ILS/DME system to the El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia after signing a procurement contract with Unidad Administrativa Especial de Aeronáutica Civil (Aerocivil). The ILS/DME will have a first-of-its-kind Localizer antenna array comprising of 34 antenna elements.
Intelcan will supply and install this unique configuration of the SKYNAV ILS N8000 and SKYNAV DME N9000 to enable Category III operations and improve runway efficiency at the airport. The wide aperture of the 34 element Localizer is a more directive array and produces a very narrow course beam which reduces the size of the critical and sensitive areas of the Localizer. This almost eliminates course in beam signal reflections which permits movement and holding of aircraft closer to the antenna array and also the development of buildings next to runways and taxiways where previously not possible.
Intelcan will also provide the SKYNAV RCMS (Remote Control and Monitoring System) including RCU (Remote Control Unit), RSU (Remote Status Unit) and RMM (Remote Maintenance and Monitoring) application to allow remote monitoring and controlling of the new navigational aids. Due to the use of modern technologies in the SKYNAV ILS, DME and RCMS, the consistently demonstrate superior performance, reliability and maintainability in comparison to competing products.
